I set up the site autumn 2004 to provide a vehicle to advertise my own
weeks, when I did not want to use them, it made sense to open it up to other
people otherwise the general costs would have been uneconomical. The "pay-by
click" advertising costs for July 2005 for instance exceeded £100 .
My money is now more wisely spent on other means of promoting the website . Typically the site now advertises about 25 to 30 weeks a year, with something over 70% selling in recent years.
The site runs independently from Shakespeare Classic Line ltd, though with
their approval help and co-operation for which I am grateful and without
which I would not have been able to get the project off the ground.
Financially I would be very happy if the site breaks even, though I regard
this as an unlikely prospect as set up-costs and the costs of learning have
been quite high. For the future while I have no objection to making a profit
the site is more likely to be run for it's utility value and as a hobby.
Timeshare owners are generally allowed within their terms of contract to
rent out unused weeks, by the management company, which enables the week
owners to recoup their maintenance fees, so these actions are legal and
legitimate.
The biggest problem in trying to rent out a timeshare week is in finding cost effective advertising. Consequently Time
share weeks are often rented out at well below commercial rates, much to the
customer's benefit.
If you are are Timeshare owner benefit from this site, or if you simply find the resources of the site helpfuly your help in promoting it would be much valued.
You may do this by:
letting your friends know about the site,
by probviding links from other websites
by mentioning it by address: (http//www.canalbarge.co.uk) in Blogs Forums or Social networking sites such as facebook
by writing an article for the site
by providing pictures of canals ... narrowboats etc

All contributions will be very welcome. Thanks Ron
